Three Saints and the Baronies Strike Back

General Information:

The Barony of Rivenstar cordially invites you to attend their annual Spring event.

Date & Location

Saturday, May 11th from 8AM - 9PM EDT

Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds - 1406 Teal Rd, Lafayette, IN 47905

This is a beautiful brand new facility. There is plenty of parking and local restaurants are minutes away from the site. We recommend bringing your own chairs as chairs on site are limited. The floors are concrete, so we suggest small rugs for your day camp and good shoes to help prevent fatigue. The site has fully accessible bathrooms available. This is a DRY site, by county law. Buildings are fully accessible.

Costs

Attention

For those who will be bringing children not their own: There are TWO forms that you will need to bring for each child. They both need to be signed by the child's parent or legal guardian. ONE MUST BE NOTARIZED per Indiana law.

1) This form needs the notarization and should be kept with the child at all times: http://www.sca.org/docs/pdf/treatminor-notary.pdf

2) This form is the usual Minor Waiver: http://www.sca.org/docs/pdf/chldwaiv.pdf.

PLEASE have both these forms filled out and signed/notarized where appropriate for each child you will be bringing that you are not the parent or legal guardian of. This requirement is out of our control and the children affected will not be allowed to attend if they are not completed properly before arrival. Thank you.

War Points

We're getting ready for War again!

Last year, the Barony of Rivenstar picked a fight with the Baronies of Sternfeld and Shadowed Stars in a Constellation Baronial War. This year, we invite all of the baronies of the Midrealm to come and join the fun!

Everyone will get the chance to win war points throughout the event. You get to choose which Barony you want to support. We will have jars labeled with each barony's name. If you earn more than one point, you can put them all in one jar or split your points among different baronies. If you are a member of one of the baronies in attendance, we assume you'll support your own barony, but no one will twist your arm to do so. Bribery is a time-honored tradition.

The Barony with the most points at the end of the event wins. The winner will receive a traveling chest full of largess items. The winner can choose to keep the items for their barony or donate them to the Royal largess coffers. The Winner of the Baronial War will be announced at Rivenstar's Baronial Court that evening.

Points

These are the activities that will get you one war point:

  • Attending the event - Yes, everyone will receive one point when you check in at the registration table
  • One hour of volunteer work during the event
  • Event set up or tear down, running errands, helping with lunch tavern, registration table, list tables, filling water jugs, etc.
  • You can do many shorter tasks throughout the day; the hour does not have to be done all at once.
  • Teaching a class or doing a demo
  • Running a children's activity
  • Entering a tournament - one point per tournament entered
  • Marshalling fighter activities
  • All merchants will get one point
  • Additionally, there will be points handed out by Their Excellencies from each Barony. These can be awarded for excellent service, acts of kindness, or Chivalry displayed throughout the day.

War Point votes must be cast by 4:00 pm. If you are helping with tear down or activities that happen after 4 pm, please cast your vote in advance.

How to Participate

We will have a centrally located table where you can get your war points. Take one war point and place it into one of the baronial jars of your choice. Remember to cast your votes by 4:00 pm!

If you worked multiple hours or entered multiple tournaments or competitions, please grab a slip for each hour you worked or each entry. This will make it easier for our tally room counters to calculate votes for each barony.

Entry Requirements for Baronies

  1. Register: If you're the landed baron or baroness for your barony, please contact THL Katrin Grimsdottir at [email protected] to register your barony.
  2. Voting Jars: Please let us know if you would like to bring your own decorated jar or if you would like one made for you. If you would like Katrin to make your barony a jar, please submit your request by May 1st, 2024.
  3. Largess: Since we are not having a largess derby this year, we ask that each participating barony bring largess items to donate to the award chest. These largess items can be anything and there is no limit to the number of items donated. The crown typically prefers nonperishable items that are labeled with any potential allergens. Include ingredient lists if applicable. There will be a display table for all donated largess.

Baronies may join forces with other baronies and participate with just one voting jar shared between them. Baronies may also recruit shires/cantons to assist. The winning barony will receive all of the donated largess and a traveling trophy chest that will be used each year. You will be expected to return the chest for the next year's challenge.

Please contact THL Katrin Grimsdottir for any questions or concerns about the challenge or largess.
